Harrah’s proudly supports Responsible Gaming Education week

Harrah’s was the first casino company to create a responsible gaming program..

More than two decades ago, Harrah’s became the first casino company to create a responsible gaming program.

We want every guest who gambles at our properties to be there for the right reason – to simply have fun.

To emphasize our commitment to responsible gaming, Harrah’s Entertainment will join other gaming companies around the U.S. to participate in the American Gaming Association’s thirteenth annual Responsible Gaming Education Week August 2—6.

“Promoting responsible gaming is part of the heritage and culture of Harrah’s Entertainment,” said Mike Rich, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Horseshoe Casino-Hotel and Harrah’s Louisiana Downs. “Throughout the year, we conduct training activities for employees and uphold our strong commitment to our responsible gaming policies and procedures. It is a privilege to join our industry colleagues in focusing national attention on this important issue.”

Harrah’s takes great pride in being the first gaming company to develop and implement responsible gaming programs. The company established the first task force to study problem gambling issues and subsequently implemented the industry’s first responsible gaming initiatives. The company also provided the initial funding to establish the National Council on Problem Gambling’s 24-hour toll-free helpline, and we provide financial support to the National Center for Responsible Gaming as well as local health service agencies on a continuing basis to promote a better understanding of the issues of pathological gambling. Harrah's commitment to responsible gaming led to the development of the U.S. industry's first-ever broadcast advertising campaign focused specifically on responsible gaming. Ads featuring CEO Gary Loveman explain the importance of responsible gaming and how responsible gaming is an important part of our Code of Commitment. That commitment also led us to be the first company with a national policy and system to honor player requests to be taken off of mailing lists, to be denied check-cashing privileges, and even to be denied casino play privileges.

Over the years, our pioneering efforts in promoting responsible gaming have earned us countless honors and accolades, including the first-ever corporate award bestowed by the National Council on Problem Gambling.

During Responsible Gaming Education Week, Harrah’s is proud to uphold the principles embodied in our Code of Commitment and to remind our employees, customers and communities that Responsible Gaming is our business.
